Student Becomes Foundation’s Youngest Fund Representative

MONTGOMERY – Valley Central High School Senior Christina Grohowski has established a charitable fund at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, making her the Foundation’s youngest fund representative to date.

This compassionate and driven young woman created Christina Cares: The Kara-Lynn Project to mark the 10th anniversary of a Valley Central alum’s passing and to honor Kathy Caltavuturo, an impressionable elementary school teacher and mother of Kara-Lynn Caltavuturo, who passed away on April 29, 2008 at the young age of 21.

Christina, along with the help of her mother Christa, a co-signer on the fund agreement, will kick off her year-long fundraising campaign at General Montgomery Day, in the Village of Montgomery, on Saturday, September 9. Their goal is to reach $1,000.00 – or more – to give back as a scholarship/monetary award for a graduating classmate who plans to study fashion design. Students interested in applying for this award should contact the Community Foundation.

Charitable contributions to Christina Cares: The Kara-Lynn Project may be made to CFOS-Christina Cares: The Kara-Lynn Project and sent to the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, 30 Scott’s Corners Drive, Suite 203, Montgomery, NY 12549.
