Knights Swept By Yeshiva in Home Opener

NEWBURGH – The Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Tennis team opened the home and Skyline Conference schedule on Wednesday night with a 9-0 loss to visiting Yeshiva. The contest was the first of four straight home matches for the Knights, with the next coming against Plattsburgh State on Saturday.

Yeshiva, who was picked second in the Skyline Conference Preseason Poll, picked up its fourth conference win of the season on Wednesday. Senior Charlotte Pascual was the lone Knight to win a set on the night, dropping a 1-6, 6-1, 10-12 decision at the second singles position.

Pascual and classmate Dorothy Tighe teamed together for a tough contest at the second doubles position as well on Wednesday. The duo dropped a 9-7 decision to the second pair from the Maccabees in their second match together on the season.

Wednesday’s loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 0-2 overall on the season and to 0-1 in conference play.
