NEWBURGH – Excitement is building for the first annual Great Collard Greens Cook Off, scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2017, 12 noon to 4 pm, 80 Broadway in Newburgh, New York.
Bring your best version of collard greens or cornbread (or both!) and compete against other local cooks for the prize of Best Collard Greens and Best Cornbread. Along with the contest for local cooks, there will be a competition for professional restaurant chefs and for the best cooks from our local organizations and congregations.
Judges include chefs, food professionals and food writers.
In addition to the cook off, there will be cooking demonstrations, sample tastings, music,local farm produce, and fun activities for all ages. Everyone is welcome to this free outdoor family event!
So mark your calendar for October 21, 2017, 12 noon to 4pm at 80 Broadway at the corner of Grand Street in the City of Newburgh. The judging begins at 1 pm. Cooking, cheering, and eating will occur rain or shine.
