Skartados Secures $375k Grant For Park

Assemblyman Frank Skartados (D-Milton) announced that he secured $375,000 to fund upgrades to Bob Shepard Highland Landing Park in the town of Lloyd.

“Bob Shepard Highland Landing Park provides a window to our region’s natural beauty and history,” said Skartados. “Volunteers have already put in enormous efforts to make the park a reality, and this funding will help make sure it’s a place to enjoy for generations to come.”

Conceived as a way to revive local residents’ ties to the Hudson River, the town of Lloyd bought property under the bluffs of Highland to create a park in 2008. After countless hours of volunteer work, Bob Shepard Highland Landing Park opened in 2009. Located 1,500 feet north of the Walkway Over the Hudson, it offers residents and visitors a place to relax, fish, kayak and enjoy stunning views.

Local volunteers and businesses have worked to upgrade the park since its opening. The funding Skartados secured will be used to install sewer lines and improve park amenities to ensure the park remains a place enjoyed
