HVFCU Members Recycle 53.9 Tons of Electronics

NEW PALTZ – Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union recently held its annual Electronic Waste Recycling Event, collecting 53.9 tons of materials. Members brought a wide variety of materials, from televisions and computer monitors, to laptops, fax machines, telephones, and even a commercial copy machine. Port Jervis’ Advanced Recycling and their staff helped collect the items at the Ulster County Fairgrounds this year, hauling everything away in less than 24 hours in three 18-wheelers and other box trucks.

“This event continues to be among our most popular of the year,” said Mary Madden, the credit union’s President and CEO. “Members tell us how grateful they are to have a place to drop off these types of items for free so that they can be recycled and discarded in a socially-responsible manner. We’re grateful for partners like the Ulster County Fairgrounds and Advanced Recycling, as well as the wonderful New Paltz Police Department staff that helped control traffic flow.”

The credit union’s next Electronic Waste Recycling Event will be announced in early 2018.
