Angry Orchard Makes a Major Donation

WALDEN – New York Farm Bureau’s Foundation for Agricultural Education received a generous $7,000 donation from popular cidery, Angry Orchard, to support its educational efforts in and out of the classroom. Many of the company’s employees presented a check to the Foundation’s Managing Director, Sandra Prokop, at their orchard location in Walden, New York.

The money raised was part of a fundraiser by more than 20 Angry Orchard staff members who work at the orchard’s tour center. The employees, who donated all of their tips to charity, chose New York Farm Bureau’s Foundation for Agricultural education as their non-profit of choice.

The money will support the Foundation’s mission to inform and educate all New Yorkers regarding agriculture and to increase understanding of agriculture between the farm and non-farm public.

“We are incredibly grateful to Angry Orchard and their wonderful staff for their kind donation. The money will be used to bridge the gap between farmers and their consumers, and to showcase the rich diversity of agriculture we have in New York State. Angry Orchard’s own tour center puts education about apples and cider making front and center, and the company’s growth in the Hudson Valley is a prime example of how farm-based businesses make a difference in their local communities,” said Sandra Prokop.
