Amanda Dana Named O.C. Director of Tourism

GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced on Friday that Amanda Dana has been named the County’s Director of Tourism.

“Amanda brings a strong and diverse background to this important position,” Neuhaus said. “The tourism industry is growing in Orange County and I know that she will work hard to continue that positive growth. Amanda has developed working relationships with key stakeholders throughout the Hudson Valley which will serve her well as she steers the County’s tourism department forward.”

Dana, a Town of Wallkill resident, previously served as the Orange County Partnership’s Director of Business Retention and Expansion. Her responsibilities included working closely with some of the region’s leading employers, including tourism destinations, to attract companies to Orange County. Dana’s clients included Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, The Castle Fun Center in Chester, Pratt & Whitney and McKesson.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Dana ran a successful real estate practice in Orange County. She has more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience. Dana received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1992.

“Amanda is respected and well-liked by her peers, and brings a wealth of experience to this new position,” said Steve Brescia, Chairman of the Orange County Legislature. “She has an impressive track record of success and will help Orange County tourism grow and gain even more exposure. We are confident that Amanda will be very successful in this role.”

The Director of Tourism’s responsibilities will include planning, developing and implementing programs and projects aimed at promoting tourism. The Director will also assist various County and government agencies and private sector businesses in developing strategies to increase visitor volume as well as sales tax revenues in Orange County.

“Our diverse tourism destinations are an asset to the County and I look forward to playing an integral role in promoting all Orange County has to offer,” Dana said. “The uptick in tourism activity here in Orange County has had a positive impact on economic development and the County’s economy as a whole. I plan to take Orange County tourism to new heights and I’m thankful to County Executive Neuhaus for giving me the opportunity to serve in this critical role.”

Dana is expected to start at the end of June.
