More Than 1k Patients Treated at Curaleaf

NEWBURGH – Curaleaf New York today announced that it has served more than 1,000 patients at its new medical marijuana dispensary in Newburgh after just two months in business, filling a strong patient need in the Hudson Valley and the surrounding areas for medical-grade cannabis. The dispensary, located at 8 North Plank Road, opened on March 30 and is the only medical marijuana dispensary in Orange County.

Currently, there are approximately 58,000 patients in New York who are eligible for the state’s medical marijuana program, meaning that 1.7 percent of eligible patients received treatment at the Newburgh dispensary in April and May. The dispensary offers products available in a variety of forms, including capsules, tablets, tinctures, oils and under-the-tongue strips. Curaleaf is also seeking approval to expand its offerings to include ground flower, transdermal patches and other new products.

“Reaching this milestone so quickly shows how underserved Orange County was prior to the opening of our Newburgh dispensary,” said Michelle Bodner, CEO of PalliaTech New York, which operates the dispensary under the brand name Curaleaf. “We are proud to have become an integral and trusted member of this community and look forward to serving thousands of more patients in the future.”

The Department of Health’s medical marijuana program is open to those suffering from serious illnesses, including chronic pain, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), cancer and multiple sclerosis. To obtain these treatments, patients must be enrolled in the program and have a recommendation from a medical practitioner. The dispensary is managed by a New York licensed pharmacist with counselors on staff to help patients find the best treatments for their needs.

In addition to the Newburgh location, Curaleaf New York operates a dispensary in Plattsburgh and will be opening locations in Forest Hills, Queens, and Carle Place, Long Island, later in the summer. Curaleaf has medical marijuana operations in nine states in addition to New York, including Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and Arizona.
