Ralph Coates Joins New York Assembly Race

POUGHKEEPSIE – Former Poughkeepsie alderman and school board president Ralph Coates has formally announced his candidacy for the State Assembly in the 104th District.

He has already been endorsed by the Dutchess County Democratic Committee.

Coates joins a growing list of Democratic candidates for the seat formerly held by Frank Skartados, who died in April.

Among the previously announced candidates are Orange County Legislator Kevindaryn Lujan and Newburgh City Councilman Jonathan Jacobson.

The district includes the cities of Poughkeepsie, Beacon and Newburgh and the towns of Newburgh, Marlboro and Lloyd.
