Ferry Godmother Reveals 2018 Music Lineup

NEWBURGH – The organizers of the Ferry Godmother Music Circuit, a series of live music concerts on the Newburgh waterfront, have announced official dates and lineup for their upcoming Free performances. This year’s music circuit will include three genres, the Newburgh Jazz Series, Orange County Pop, Rock & Doowop Series and introducing the Newburgh Jewish Music Series. Premiere sponsor Empire Blue Shield and many other local businesses have made this possible. The nine-day event takes place on two outdoor stages at the historic Newburgh waterfront, People’s Park and Unico Park. Shows will run three weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, beginning August 10th. Each series will be opened with a special blessing from community spiritual leaders, Father Bill Scafidi, formerly of St. Mary’s Church, Pastor Milton Stubbs of AME Zion Church and Rabbi Larry Freedman of Temple Beth Jacob, all of Newburgh NY. These community art and music spaces are organized by Ferry Godmother Production’s Executive Production, Aquanetta “Ferry Godmother” Wright. All shows are open to the general public, free of charge but donations are welcomed. They are a “bring your own chair or blanket”. Newburgh Jazz Series – Jazz is an intricate part of history, it is the only true American art form. Jazz is a music that emphasizes performance over composition. This series may consist of various styles of jazz genre including blue swing, straight-on, cool jazz, ragtime, Contemporary Jazz and more.

Orange County Pop, Rock & Doowop Series – The series includes a variety of music like doowop, pop and classic rock and roll, girl groups and more. All concerts will represent popular music in the mid to late 1950s and 1960s.

Newburgh Jewish Music Series – The newest stop on the Ferry Godmother Music Circuit. It encompasses many genres of religious, semi-religious and folk music used in the synagogue, in the Jewish home and also music using Jewish texts or themes. Included is a performance of “klezmer”, the toe-tapping traditional Eastern European party music infused with Jewish spirituality, world-class Jewish jazz, and Broadway musicals and show tunes which were collectively written largely by American Jews.

Ferry Godmother Music Circuit is an outdoor music event based in Newburgh NY that showcases a variety of genres in an effort to build community. They offer the perfect getaway for music aficionados who prefer to “experience” live music amidst beautiful natural settings of the beautiful Newburgh waterfront.
