The H.V. Receives an Economic Evaluation

TOWN OF WALLKILL – The Hudson Valley is one of the top economic development producers of the 10 regions in New York. That assessment came Thursday from Meghan Taylor, regional state economic development director, in comments to the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.

Taylor said in addition to a low unemployment rate and increasing job opportunities, there is the multiplier effect.

“For every one dollar of state investment, it is projected to generate $7 of economic activity on the seven-county state-wide basis. The region has been named a top performer in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017, and I am hoping to break the mold and this year the third year in a row that the region is designated as a top performer.”

Taylor noted that in the seven years that the state’s regional economic development awards program has been in existence, 693 projects have been approved for funding in the Hudson Valley, pumping millions into the economy.
