Recognition Ceremony Held For DRC Volunteers

MIDDLETOWN – The Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) held a Volunteer Recognition dinner recently to thank and recognize Mediators and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for their dedication and commitment in volunteering their time for DRC and CASA in Orange County. The Outstanding Mediator award for Orange County for 2018 went to Miriam Frankl and the Outstanding CASA for 2018 was Sandra Tarallo. Among those attending in addition to the Mediators and CASA was District 1 Legislator Michael Amo and DRC’s Board Officers: Fran Melder, President; Debra Weaver, Vice President; James Rollins, Sr., Secretary; and Rob Unger, Treasurer.

DRC Mediators are involved in mediating cases in local courts as well as in DRC’s offices for disputes that are about issues concerning families; landlords/tenants; seniors; schools; parents/youth and much more. They are community-minded individuals who give back by helping people to resolve their issues peacefully.

CASA Volunteers are specially trained to monitor and report to the Court on the progress of children who are in foster care due to abuse or neglect. They are the voice of our communities’ most vulnerable children. The next training begins on February 1st.
