Adaptive Swim Program for Disabilities Offered

NEW WINDSOR – Private swim lessons for children with disabilities are now being offered at Union Avenue Community Fitness Center located at 565 Union Avenue, New Windsor, in a heated pool. This new program, Swim Angelfish, features specially trained instructors and is for children who have: physical disabilities and coordination difficulties, attention difficulties, anxiety, sensory challenges and ASD.

Swim Angelfish provides children with special needs the lifelong skill of being comfortable and safe in the water. Certified swim specialists have an understanding of these challenges and as a result prioritize safety, inclusion and therapeutic benefits.

“Swimming is a life skill and I am proud to help teach skills to children of all abilities,” said Stacy Orzell, Certified Swim Angelfish Instructor. “Anyone can learn to swim with practice and a willingness to try. It is so rewarding to bring specialized swim lessons to children with disabilities and to provide comfort, peace of mind and support to families and caregivers. This swim program is a great way to serve and support the community while sharing my lifelong love of swimming.”
