Newburgh’s Engine 3 is Finally Back Home

NEWBURGH – The West End Firehouse in the City of Newburgh is back in business.
The $30,000 asbestos remediation has been completed and Engine 3 and its crew have returned to their upper Broadway home.

The asbestos removal took only a few days, but the process leading up to it took months. In the interim, the truck and its crew were repositioned to the main firehouse in the public safety building at the east end of Broadway, adding a few minutes to response time.

The city had initially worked on plans to temporarily position the truck in the new Goodwill firehouse on the city line in the Town of Newburgh, but details were never worked out.
