Major Healthcare Facility Upgrade Unveiled

MIDDLETOWN – Cornerstone Family Healthcare took the wraps off its plans to develop a full-scale healthcare and wellness program in the City of Middletown.

Cornerstone took over the former Middletown Family Health Center about a year ago and now, armed with $7.5 million in grants, the work to develop its Benton Street offices into a modern facility to care for everyone, regardless of ability to pay. is underway.

Cornerstone President Linda Muller said the center has been providing services over this past year in its current facilities, but the redeveloped center in Middletown will be full service.

“Under one roof will be ob-gyn, pediatrics, internal medicine, behavioral health, and substance use disorder services through a primary care setting,” Muller said. “The integration of understanding that the health, physical as well as wellbeing of a patient, is the thing that we must work on because there is a triangular effect. Treating the who person, not just part of the person, listening to the person and asking that patient what is important to you, is part of who we are.”

Of the total $7.5 million grant, the state Health Department is covering $5 million and the local Rowley Family Foundation of Middletown is contributing $2.5 million.

The project, which will include a 4,000 square foot addition, is expected to be completed in two years.
