Vassar Falls To Skidmore In Liberty League Finals

ITHACA – No. 17 Skidmore claimed its ninth-straight Liberty League title with a 5-1 victory over the Brewers in the championship match on Sunday morning. The Thoroughbreds now receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Vassar tallied a win in the doubles with Morgane Flournoy and Ashley Fair taking the third court 8-5. That proved to be the Brewers’ only win, as Skidmore swept the singles courts soon after. Only the first-three finishers counted due to league rules, with Sarra Yekta falling 6-0, 6-2 at the seconds court and No. 4 Melina Stavropoulos dropping the 6-0, 6-1 decision. Megan Rodick forced a close second-set match but ultimately fell 6-3, 7-5.

Vassar, ranked 15th in the Northeast Region, finishes its season at 14-7.
