Mooney Breaks 200m Record in Boston

BOSTON, MA – Marist track & field had their best meet of the season at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, led by Jeremy Mooney with his school-record time in the 200m. He joined Gianna Tedeschi, Denise Grohn and the women’s distance medley relay as qualifiers for the IC4A/ECAC Championships in March.

Mooney ran a blazing 22:21 in the 200m to beat out Tim Johnson’s record of 22:51 from 2017.

The women’s distance medley relay of Emily Burns, Camille McHenry, Gianna Mastromatteo and Denise Grohn finished in sixth with a season-best mark of 12:03.94 to reach ECACs.
Connor St. Germain and Zachary Ropes ran season bests of 1:56.10 and 1:57.85 respectively to place 55th and 70th out of 175 competitors.

Captain Santosh Krishnan earned a personal best in the 200m (23:45) and a season-best in the 400m (51.46).

Christopher Rivas (14:52.28) and Ramsey Little (14:56.57) both broke the 15-minute barrier in the 5,000m to place 26th and 33rd respectively and join Marist’s all-time list.

Alexander Hogue (15:09.34) and Graham Strzelecki (15:12.50) both reached new personal bests in the 5,000m.

James Moehringer ran 4:16.74 in the mile for a big PR.

Marist track & field returns to Staten Island on January 31 for the Metropolitan Championships.
