ShopRite and Catholic Charities Partner to Feed Our Neighbors

FLORIDA – ShopRite has once again partnered with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York for its annual Feeding Our Neighbors campaign. The partnership is part of a joint effort to raise funds to replenish food pantries throughout the Hudson Valley region.

From Sunday, March 1 through Saturday, March 14, 27 ShopRite stores throughout Westchester county and the Hudson Valley will collect donations at checkout for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. Shoppers can make monetary donations to support the archdiocesan-wide effort to replenish food pantries and soup kitchens that feed hungry neighbors during the most critical time of the year.

“This is our sixth year supporting the fight against hunger with Catholic Charities,” said Tom Urtz, vice president of operations, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. “ShopRite believes in lending a hand to our neighbors in need and we’re thankful to our associates and customers who embrace our commitment to community giving.”

“We are grateful to ShopRite and its customers for their continuous support of the Feeding Our Neighbors food drive,” said Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. “The donations help food pantries keep their shelves stocked and with the support of ShopRite, our neighbors will have access to healthier foods that otherwise might not be available to them.”

In 2019, Feeding Our Neighbors raised the equivalent of more than 1.5 million meals, supported in large part by ShopRite locations throughout the Hudson Valley, which collected $74,200 in donations. To date, ShopRite has collected more than $479,000 and more than 82,000 pounds of non-perishable food through the generosity of donations from ShopRite customers – the equivalent of more than 1.7 million meals.
