2020 Women of Achievement Event is Postponed

ORANGE COUNTY – In light of the ongoing pandemic, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and YWCA Orange County have made the decision to postpone the 2020 Tribute to Women of Achievement of Orange County event until 2021. This year’s honorees will be recognized at a dinner celebration on May 12, 2021. The annual event, which recognizes women who make a difference in the Orange County community through their professional, volunteer, or school-based activities was established in 1992. This is the first time it has been postponed in its 28-year history.

“We will miss celebrating our honorees and the camaraderie and friendship that come along with the Tribute event each year, but it was the right thing to do for the health and safety of our community and the many people who work so hard to create a memorable gathering each year,” said Marie Reger, CEO, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. “All of our honorees have been notified and we look forward to being together next year to recognize their outstanding achievements.”

“The past six months have been long and difficult and our hearts go out to all those who have been struggling with the virus and the ripple effects of the pandemic,” said Amy Frisbee, Dinner Chairperson. “It was with heavy hearts that we made the decision to postpone an event with such a long and celebrated history. Our honorees will receive the recognition they have earned when we gather together on May 12, 2021.”

Tribute to Women is Orange County’s premier annual event recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of women and girls in this community. Co-hosted each year by Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and YWCA Orange County, the Tribute celebration raises funds to support each agency’s work to empower, promote, and support women and girls. More than 265 women from throughout Orange County have been recognized since the award’s inception.

The next Tribute event, which will recognize this year’s class of honorees, will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor.
