Army Falls to Boston College in Season Opener

WEYMOUTH, MA – The Army West Point women’s tennis team kicked off the 2021 season against Boston College on Friday afternoon. The Black Knights picked up their first loss of the year in a tough 7-0 matchup against a very good Eagles roster.

Army got off to a strong start, forcing doubles competition to come down to the No. 3 slot.
After starting at a 1-0 deficit, the Black Knights No. 1 doubles team, Ana Joyner and Sam DiMaio, swung the favor back into Army’s court with a nail biter, clinching a 7-6 victory over Kylie Wilcox and her partner Yufei Long, who closed out the year ranked No. 38 in the nation. Despite a valiant effort, the freshman duo of Carolyn Ahn and Justine Dondonay just missed a victory in the final matchup, losing 7-6 to Sophia Edwards and Loren Haukova, giving Boston College the doubles point.

The Black Knights tried to regain the lead in singles play, however a dominant Boston College singles lineup moved ahead for the 7-0 victory.
