Black Knights Drop Road Contest to Holy Cross, 61-49

WORCESTER, MA – The Army women’s basketball team had its three-game win-streak snapped by Holy Cross Saturday afternoon, falling 61-49 at the Hart Center.

Alisa Fallon notched her second consecutive double-double, closing out the contest with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Black Knights was Kate Murray, who finished with 11 points.

The Crusaders had a trio of double-digit scorers led by freshman Bronagh Power-Cassidy’s 15 points. Oluchi Ezemma contributed 14 points and Avery LaBarbera added 10.

“They’ve had some really terrific consistency out of their two freshmen and LaBarbera is clearly one of the best guards in the league. She really controlled the tempo of the game,” Army head coach Dave Magarity said.

Holy Cross managed to build its lead to double digits by the early portion of the second quarter. By halftime, the Crusaders lead was up to 17 points, as they entered the break with the 40-23 advantage. Holy Cross shot 51.7 percent from the field in the opening half and were 8-9 from the line.
