Black Knights Continue Hot Streak Against Villanova

WEST POINT – The Army men’s and women’s indoor track teams dominated for the second straight week as they collected the majority of victories in a meet against Villanova Saturday afternoon at Gillis Field House.

The Army women had double winners in both the field and track events. Emily Mikoud remains unbeaten this season in the 20-lb weight and shot put, posting season highs in winning both. The Black Knight junior had a winning toss of 19.51 meters in the weight throw followed by a 15.71 mark in the shot put.

Freshman Jazmine Alderman led the way for the second straight meet in garnerning first place honors in the 60 (7.86) and 200-meter (25.98) dashes with a season best in the former. The women captured six of the running events and four of the six field events.

Junior Jamir Gibson was a double winner for the men leading the way in the field events claiming both throwing events. He garnered top honors in the 35-lb weight for the second straight week this time with a toss of 18.94 (62-1 ¾), the lone Black Knight to go over 60 feet in that event. He added a first in the shot put (17.65) equaling his season best. The men took seven of the running events and four of the field events in claiming 11 first place finishes.
