Knights Shutout Colgate In First League Contest

SYRACUSE – The Army West Point women’s team secured their first Patriot League win of the year on Saturday afternoon in a 7-0 shutout against Colgate University.

The Black Knights put in quick work in doubles play taking two straight 6-1 victories from Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent in the No. 1 slot and Hannah Boubel and Sasha Inchauste in the No. 2 slot. Army’s back to back victories allowed them to secure an early team doubles point to feed into their singles dominance.

Freshman Justine Dondonay posted the first singles victory of the afternoon in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Colgate’s Atallah at No 4. Dondonay opened the door for fellow freshman Carolyn Ahn to grab a win in the No. 5, with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Boubel and Dolehide sealed the deal for Army in the No. 3 and No. 1 matches to take the Black Knights home to victory. Bouble took a 6-0, 6-3 contest and Dolehide a 6-1, 6-1 dual to give Army the 5-0 advantage heading into the final two matchups of the day. McKinnley Smith and Caroline Vincent battled to three sets but prevailed over the Raiders to give Army the shutout victory and first conference win of the year.
