Mount’s Dabein Walker Named Field Athlete of the Year

FARMINGDALE – The Mount Saint Mary College Men’s Track and Field team rounded out the 2021 season with a fourth place finish at the Skyline Outdoor Championship on Sunday. Dabein Walker closed out the year with three victories for the Knights on his way to being named the Skyline Conference Field Athlete of the Year.

Walker continued his dominance in the field for the Knights on Sunday, posting victories in the Long, Triple and High Jumps at the conference championship meet. Walker posted his first win of the day in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.72 meters and followed that up with a school record lead of 12.93 meters in the Triple Jump. The mark breaks the previous record of 12.37 meters set by Mount Saint Mary Hall of Famer Scott Collelo in 2011. Walker finished off his big day with a triumph in the High Jump with a mark of 1.89 and went on to add a third place finish for the Knights in the Javelin.

Carl Magliulo also had a strong showing for the Knights in the field events, scoring a second, third and sixth place finish. Magliulo was the runner-up in the Hammer Throw with a heave of 40.73 meters and added a third place finish in the Discus with a toss of 29.93 meters.

Magliulo closed out an impressive day with a mark of 8.95 meters in the Shot Put, good for sixth place in the event.

On the track, Kenneth Barrett scored a third place finish for Mount Saint Mary in the 5,000-meters, running a time of 17:16.20.

The United State Merchant Marine Academy won the team event with 180 points, eclipsing runner-up Manhattanville by 10 tallies. Farmingdale State took third place with 142 points followed by the Mount with 67.
