Dear Editor:
I address this letter to my fellow Democrats in Orange County Legislative District 4 (that’s YOU, City of Newburgh and Town of Newburgh residents)!
Please join me in voting for our incumbent, Kevindaryan Lujan, in the primary on Tuesday, June 22. You don’t even have to wait ’til then: Early in-person voting begins at the City of Newburgh Activity Center, 401 Washington Street, on Saturday, June 12!
A young progressive activist, Lujan is always accessible and responsive to his constituents. Despite being vastly outnumbered by Republicans in the county legislature, he has not backed down. He articulates the people’s positions on major issues, such as:
TRANSPORTATION: He strongly pushed for a program to have buses running to and from the right places at the right times to connect people to employment zones.
HOUSING: He consistently advocates for affordable housing and is working with the county Department of Social Services to help people stay in their homes with the help of federal funds.
DIVERSITY: He has been a leading voice for training on equity and inclusion in hiring for public jobs.
HEALTHCARE: Lujan has worked closely with organizations such as RECAP, Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson and many others, to achieve racial equity in healthcare, throughout this pandemic and beyond.
In my opinion, Lujan is not only Orange County’s youngest legislator, he’s also our best. In the Democratic primary, please vote to keep him working for us all.
