Stop & Shop is Helping Meals on Wheels

NEWBURGH – Stop & Shop in Newburgh is offering shoppers two unique ways throughout August to support Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh (MOW). The supermarket on Rt. 300 has chosen MOW as the recipient of both its Community Bags program and its Bloomin’ 4 Good Program for the entire month.

Every $10.99 Bloomin’ 4 Good Bouquet with the red circle sticker purchased at the Rt. 300 Stop & Shop will result in a $1 donation to MOW. At the same time, every $2.50 recyclable Community Bag bought at that store will also result in a $1 donation to MOW.

MOW is a non-profit whose volunteers deliver freshly prepared, nutritious meals to residents of the City of Newburgh and the Towns of Newburgh and New Windsor who are unable to provide their own meals due to age, illness or disability.

“We are very proud and humbled to be the beneficiary of both of these great programs,” said MOW Executive Director Robin Bello. “Stop & Shop has partnered with us before, but to be selected for both of these programs in the same month is unprecedented.”

“Flowers provide a cool note of cheer in these dog days of summer,” said MOW President Carole McDermott. “Now they can also fight hunger! Just look for the red circle sticker in the floral department.”

Bello added, “The Community Bag Program is another amazing way to help our neighbors who need a hand. By buying a Stop & Shop recyclable bag with the words, ‘Give Back’ on the sticker, you are truly giving back to your community, while helping the environment at the same time.”
