Army Closes Camp with Saturday Scrimmage

WEST POINT – The Army West Point football team closed out its fall camp on Saturday with its first scrimmage of the season at Michie Stadium.

Head coach Jeff Monken, along with Maurice Bellan, Braheam Murphy and Marquel Broughton spoke after the scrimmage, which was held just after noon at West Point.
Following its pregame routine, Army started off with 7 vs. 7 drills as well as and one-on-one linemen drills.

Tyhier Tyler took the first snaps on the opening drive, which finished with a rushing touchdown by Tyson Riley after a long run from Anthony Adkins.

Jemel Jones took snaps on the second drive for the offense.

Another long rush from Adkins started it off and he later scored on a rush.

Maurice Bellan was under center on the third drive and found tight end Brandon Jones for a touchdown, the first non-rushing score of the day.

Rookie Simeon Evans took snaps on the fourth drive, the first rookie quarterback to see action.

He connected with Bishop Johnson down the sideline for a touchdown.

Jabari Laws took snaps to start the first team’s second round of action.

Laws spotted Braheam Murphy through the air and the slot back found the end zone for another score for the offense.

Christian Anderson took snaps on the sixth drive and then handed ball over to Cade Ballard in a two-minute drill situation.

Sean Eckert reeled in a nice grab on fourth down to extend the drive during the two-minute.

Rookie Logan Burks hauled in the final touchdown of the afternoon with a nice grab in the back of the end zone.

The Black Knights finish camp today, but are continuing to get ready for the season opener on Sept. 4 at Georgia State and then Army will be home for the first time in 2021 against Western Kentucky on Sept. 11.
