Brewers Take Top Five Spots to Win Starter

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Vassar men’s cross country team battled through the heavy rain and went one through five to win the Vassar Season Starter with 15 points. Senior Reed Dolan was went first overall with a time of 12.52.0 in the 4,000-meter course, and in total, Vassar claimed eight of the top-ten places.

New Paltz placed second with 56 points, while Union was third with 67. Bard took fourth.

Junior Miles Takiguchi was neck-and-neck with Dolan, but was just edged out by 0.3 seconds to finish at 12:52.3. Senior Jack Casalino placed third overall and crossed the line at 13:01.7, while first-year Benny Clark went fourth at 13:16.4. Sophomore Aidan Mayer finished fifth with his time of 13:18.9.

A New Paltz runner broke up the Vassar pack, but freshman John Hurly and senior Johnathan Dean went seventh and eighth, respectively. Hurly crossed at 13:25.3 and Dean was 13:28.5.

Sophomore Simon Laclair went 10th overall with a time of 13:29.1. A freshmen pack of Thomas Rombach, Tim Buchan, and Finn Morley claimed the 13th, 15th, and 16th places.

Vassar returns to action on Sept. 11 for the Ron Stonitsch Invitational held at the Vassar Farm. The race starts at 10 a.m.
