Vassar-Warner Home Celebrates 150th Anniversary

POUGHKEEPSIE – In continuing its commitment to serving the needs of seniors in and around Dutchess County, Vassar-Warner Home celebrated its 150th anniversary with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 30. Today, Vassar-Warner Home is the only nonprofit adult home and assisted living program in Dutchess County, but the historic building that sits at 52 South Hamilton in Poughkeepsie, dates back to 1835.

The building began as an all-boys private school, before it became a home for aging women, later merging with a home for aging men. Thursday’s ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce representatives, Vassar-Warner Home staff and board members, State Senator Sue Serino, as well as members of the community.
