Marist Red Foxes Defeated in Road Matchup

HAMDEN, CT – The Marist men’s basketball team battled from behind but in the end fell short against the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 94-87, in a Metro Atlantic Conference matchup Friday night. The Red Foxes now fall to an overall record of 8-11 and 3-7 in MAAC play. The victory moves the Bobcats overall record to 11-7 and 6-4 in conference play.

Quinnipiac took an early 5-0 lead but Marist quickly responded with a 5-0 run.
After six Red Foxes’ turnovers in the first seven minutes, the Bobcats capitalized and extended their lead shooting 64 percent from the field and 60 percent from three.

Quinnipiac collected nine three-pointers in the first half. Marist hit seven three-pointers of their own but the Bobcats ended the half with a 56-35 lead.

The Red Foxes came back firing in the second half. Collecting 21 points in the first seven minutes of the new period.

With under eight minutes remaining, a Noah Harris three-pointer cut Quinnipiac’s lead to single digits. Quinnipiac’s largest lead was 23 points, before the Red Foxes cut the deficit to one point with a dunk from Jordan Jones with 3:31 remaining.

Two clutch bucket’s from Quinnipiac’s Matt Balanc pushed the Bobcats lead back up to seven with just over two minutes to go.

Quinnipiac would hold onto the lead and claim the wire-to-wire victory.
