AKA’s Bring Hope During The Holiday Season

FISHKILL – This past holiday season, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Iota Alpha Omega Chapter collaborated with the Kappa Upsilon Lambda Chapter Of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, donated and delivered many items to the House of Hope in Fishkill, NY.

The Hudson Valley House of Hope is an emergency shelter for individuals and children that are survivors of domestic violence. Due to the pandemic and the sensitive nature of the organization, the items were delivered to an undisclosed safe location. In early October, Joy Rene’ Young, the Vice President of Iota Alpha Omega contacted the Director of the House Of Hope, Diandria Williams to define the needs of the individuals who use their service. Iota Alpha Omega called on the brothers of Kappa Upsilon Lambda for support. Both organizations are a part of the Mid Hudson Valley National Pan Hellenic Council, also known as the Divine 9 organization. Together the two organizations along with some very supportive volunteers were able to meet the needs and put smiles on the faces of some very deserving individuals. One of the volunteers sent donations all the way from Atlanta. She said she was so touched by the kind gesture of the Sorority.
