SUNY New Paltz Equestrian Places at Show

LAGRANGEVILLE – The State University of New York at New Paltz IHSA team competed at Vassar College Saturday and placed third of six teams, only behind Centenary University and Marist College.

The Hawks scored a total of 31 points with the Cyclones recording 34, while Marist had a showing of 38. The hosting Brewers (13), United State Military Academy (16) and Sarah Lawrence (15) placed fourth through sixth, respectively.

Abigail Artz, Emma Mearkle, Devyn Looney and Brynley Smith each earned first place in their respective events. Arts in intermediate fences, riding Harley, Mearkle in in novice flat, riding Quantum, Looney in flat on Tito and Smith in over fences, riding Mo with Smith also earning fourth place in flat on Redemption.

Seraphina Morreale secured two second place standings in over fences on Bella and in flat on Redemption. Nora Greenfieldt placed third in intermediate fences on Belle, while Looney took a third place standing in fences on Cleo.

Miko McGovern earned second on DaBelle in open flat, while also placing sixth in open fences riding Mo. Winn Schmitt landed sixth in limit fences, riding Quantum, while Brie Costello and Juliette Barkman also secured sixth in limit flat on Macy and Quantum, respectively.

Djuna Dechert placed fifth riding Impy in limit fences, while Sara Mariott secured third in fences and fourth in flat riding Quantum in both events.

SUNY New Paltz is back in action this Saturday, hosting an IHSA Show at their home facility at Meadow Creek Farm.
