Marist Takes Game Two From Fordham Rams

NEW YORK – Behind solid starting pitching and an offensive eruption, the Marist baseball team defeated Fordham by a final score of 17-7 on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Foxes got the runs going early following a two run home-run by Gavin Noriega and a three run home-run by Robbie Armitage in the first inning.

A double from Donnie Stone and a triple from Nathan Lincoln in the third inning led to a five run inning for the Red Foxes.

A Reece Armitage RBI-single and Brian Hart sacrifice fly scored two more runs for Marist in the fourth inning.

Two sacrifice flies by Noriega and Hart extended the Marist lead to 16-3 in the sixth inning.
Starting pitcher Erubiel Candelario held the Rams to just three runs through the first seven innings.

Despite scoring four runs in the final two innings, Fordham was unable to rally back as Marist picked up the 17-7 victory.

Stats
Candelario pitched spectacular, going 7.0 innings, allowing just five hits, two earned runs, and striking out five.

Gene Napolitano and Noriega each had three hits to pace the Red Foxes offense.

Noriega batted in a career-high six runs for Marist.

Reece Armitage, Stone, and Lincoln each collected two hits on the day.

Marsit had 17 hits, including four doubles, a triple, and two home-runs.
