ONEONTA – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team earned its third straight victory on Friday following a 4-1 road win at Oneonta. Coleman Barnes knocked in three runs and John Morehead picked up his first career victory on the mound.
Friday’s victory improves Mount Saint Mary to 4-5 overall on the season while Oneota falls to 3-8.
The Red Dragons got on the board first with a run in the home half of the first inning.
Oneonta took advantage of two hits and a walk in the inning with Matthew McAllister driving in the first run with a two-out single.
The 1-0 lead held for Oneonta until the top of the fifth when the Knights drew even with their first run of the contest. With two runners on and two-outs, Barnes laced a single up the middle that delivered Robert Brust to knot the score at 1-1.
The game remained deadlocked until the ninth inning when the Mount erupted for three runs. The Knights strung together four hits in the inning, including a two-run single from Barnes that plated the deciding run. Liam Merlin added an insurance run when the drove in Barnes with a two-out single.
The Red Dragons would get a runner into scoring position in their final at-bat, but Morehead got a groundout to end the contest.

Anthony Franco, Barnes and Brust all recorded two hits.
Barnes added a run and three RBI, with Brust scoring once for the Knights.
Merlin finished 1-for-5 with an RBI for the Mount.
Ryan Lutinski ripped a double for the Knights.
Matthew Borriello made the start on the mound and worked 5.0 strong innings. He allowed a run on three hits.
Brian Gregory worked 2.0 scoreless innings in relief, striking out one.
Morehead moved to 1-0, allowing just two hits in 2.0 innings of work.

McAllister finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Sean Liquori went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.
Michael Sabetine recorded a hit and scored the team’s lone run.
Kyle Roper worked 6.1 innings on the mound, allowing an unearned run and fanning six in a no decision.
