Marist Beats Bobcats in High Scoring Match

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist baseball team claimed victory over Quinnipiac in the first game of their three-game series. The Red Foxes won by a final score of 17-10 in a game which featured plenty of offense.

Marist 17, Quinnipiac 10

Marist started the game with a bang, scoring nine runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Gene Napolitano and Reece Armitage both found their way on base via a walk and a hit by pitch to begin the inning, followed by a Robbie Armitage double.
Brian Hart, Johnny Decker, Gavin Noriega, and Donnie Stone also singled in the first.

The Red Foxes found themselves up 9-0 before Quinnipiac recorded their first out.

The Bobcats struck back in the second, scoring three runs on back-to-back home runs.

Quinnipiac added three more runs in the fourth.

The Red Foxes added two in the fifth and four in the seventh off timely hits by Noriega and Hoy.

Zane Kmietek went 4.2 innings in relief to earn the win for Marist.
