Mount Baseball Drops Slugfest at Oneonta

ONEONTA – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team took to the road Wednesday afternoon and suffered a high-scoring 13-10 non-conference loss at Oneonta. Brandon Nolasco, Ryan Lutinski and Coleman Barnes all finished with two hits for the Knights.

Wednesday’s loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 12-17 overall on the season while Oneota improves to 11-21 overall.

Oneonta took a 4-0 lead after tallying a single run in the second and three more in the fourth.

Mount Saint Mary knotted the score with four tallies in the top half of the fifth.

Nolasco opened the inning with a double and later scored the inning’s first run on a Luke Barone RBI single.

Lutinski would cut the deficit in half when he scored on a wild pitch and the Mount got a run closer when Barone crossed following a bases loaded walk to Domincik Marzigliano.

The game was tied when Ben Crowley came home following a bases loaded walk from Anthony Laietta.

Mount Saint Mary surged in front 9-4 with five more runs in the top of the sixth.

Laietta delivered two runs in the frame with a single and Nolasco chased home the inning’s fifth run with a two-out infield single.

The Red Dragons surged back in front with six runs in the bottom of the seventh and tacked on three more runs in the eighth.

Mount Saint Mary mounted one more rally in the ninth, but settled for just one run following an RBI doubled from Barnes that delivered Shawn Sawyer.

For The Knights
Nolasco finished 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, two walks and an RBI.

Lutinski doubled in a 2-for-4 effort with a walk and two runs scored.

Barnes went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Barone recorded a hit and scored twice.

Crowley finished with a hit, two runs, two stolen bases and an RBI.

Laietta drove in three runs.

Jack Goodwin doubled.

Liam Horan made the start and struck out three over the first 2.0 innings.
