Marist Soccer Posts 2-2 Draw in Season Opener

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist women’s soccer team started off the season with a 2-2 draw against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in a non-conference matchup.

Marist’s first shot on goal came from freshman Anna Maggi in the first four minutes of the game.

The Red Foxes took a total of nine shots before the Bonnies had an opportunity at their first shot of the game in the 18th minute.

In the first half, Marist outshot the Bonnies 15-2. The St. Bonaventure goalie, Chiara Gottinger collected five saves.

Both teams came out the second half with two goals a piece. The Red Foxes connected for the first goal of the game in the 52nd minute. Nicole Colantuno scored off an assist from Grace DiVincenzo.

The Bonnies responded with two goals to regain the lead, 2-1.

In the 74th minute, Samantha Caldarelli scored her first goal of the season to tie the game.

The teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the game, ending the contest in a tie.
