Red Foxes Volleyball Takes Down Quinnipiac

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist volleyball team took down Quinnipiac in 3 sets on Sunday at McCann Arena, as the Red Foxes added to the win total.

Marist won by scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-22.

The Red Foxes were in control throughout the first set, going up by as much as 19-11.

The Bobcats didn’t have an answer as Marist took the first set 25-18.

In the second set Quinnipiac started strong going up 4-1, but the Red Foxes surged back.

As Marist went up 22-17, the Bobcats fought back to make it 22-21, but the Foxes held on to win 25-22.

The third set saw Quinnipiac start hot by going up 11-5, but after a needed timeout, the Red Foxes clawed back to tie it 12-12. The rest of the set was a very back and forth affair until Marist pulled away at the end to take the set 25-22.

Sasha van der Merwe led both teams in kills with 18. McKinley Fox had a dominant performance as she led both teams in assists with 40.

The Red Foxes look to start a three-game road trip as they travel to Jersey City to take on the Saint Peter’s Peacocks Saturday, Oct. 1. Rider is up next followed by a rematch against Quinnipiac on Sunday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday, Oct. 5 respectively.
