Army Volleyball Upended By Loyola Maryland

WEST POINT – The Army Black Knights fell to the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds, 3-1, on Saturday.

The Black Knights won the first set but dropped the next three sets. The difference in the match was Loyola’s splendid sideout percentage. The Greyhounds had a sideout percentage of .78 in the second set and 68 percent in each the third and fourth sets.

Army scored the match’s first three points on its way to an 8-2 lead. However, Loyola battled its way back in set that had four lead changes. A kill by Diana Ethridge broke a 20-20 tie to start a three-point run. Alyssa Lukasik finished the set with a kill for a 25-22 win.

Loyola tied the match by winning the second set, 25-18, behind a match-high .378 hitting percentage. In the third set, the set was tied at 10-10 when the Greyhounds pulled away from the Black Knights for a 25-16 win. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 5-1 lead and never trailed in the fourth set.
