Butler Pulls Away From the Marist Red Foxes

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Marist football team suffered a 31-10 loss to Butler in a Pioneer Football League at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl on Saturday.

Butler broke open a 10-10 tie with 21 unanswered points in a span of 10:10 to pull away.

On Butler’s first drive, Teddy Wright stopped Butler quarterback Bret Bushka for no gain on 4th-and-1 from the Marist 30.

On the Red Foxes’ ensuing drive, Brock Bagozzi’s six-yard touchdown pass to Amin Woods got Marist on the scoreboard first.

Butler then scored 10 unanswered points in the second quarter.

Luke Paladino’s 31-yard field goal tied the score at 10 on the final play of the first half. The field goal came at the conclusion of a 9-play, 64-yard drive in 1:03. Bagozzi went 5-for-8 for 54 yards on the drive.

Joey Suchy’s rushing touchdown from three yards out, his second of the day, gave Butler a 17-10 lead with 52 seconds left in the third quarter.

Suchy scored his third touchdown of the day on a 16-yard reception from Bret Bushka with 10:25 in the fourth, which put Butler up 24-10.

Kwesi Kyei-Fordjour one-yard rushing touchdown gave Butler a 31-10 lead with 5:42 to play, which closed out the scoring.

Marist is now 2-5 on the season and 2-3 in the PFL.

Marist will host Presbyterian this Saturday at noon.
