Vassar Earns First Place Finish at Championships

MILTON – The Vassar Men’s Cross Country team took home the ECAC Championship team title on Saturday as the Brewers had all seven runners finish in the top-20 overall finishers. Sophomore Levi Lilienthal was the top finisher for Vassar as he crossed the finish line in fifth place.

Lilienthal raced around the 8K course at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in a time of 29:10.0 for the fifth place finish. Freshman Arlo Rucker recorded his best overall finish as he finished in a time of 29:18.4, which was good for seventh overall. Sophomore Kai Chang crossed the finish line in 11th position with a time of 29:38.2.

Sophomore Nick Redstone and senior Doug Cobb finished back-to-back in 14th and 15th place respectively. Redstone finished in a time of 29.44.1 while Cobb crossed the line shortly behind in 29.44.9. Sophomores Mikhail Medina and Jackson Bernreuter rounded out the seven finishers for Vassar as they finished in 17th and 18th place respectively. Medina finished in a time of 30:02 while Bernreuter finished in 30:07.9.

Pratt’s Bruce Westgate earned the individual ECAC title as he finished in a time of 28:34.3. Vassar finished in first place with 43 points while Hunter was second with 93 points. New Jersey City and Maritime finished third and fourth with 122 and 126 points respectively.

On the Women’s side, sophomore Sophie Farr was the lone runner for the Brewers as she finished 13th overall in a time of 29:17.7 on the 6K course. John Jay’s Isabella Gentile won the race as she finished in 25:47.7 while St. Joseph’s – L.I. earned the team title with 41 points, just edging out Maritime who had 47 points.

Vassar returns to action this weekend when both teams race in the NCAA Mid-Eastern Regionals, hosted by St. Lawrence, on Saturday afternoon.
