Marist Basketball Topples Mount St. Mary’s

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist men’s basketball team earned a 63-56 victory over Mount St. Mary’s in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at McCann Arena on Sunday afternoon.

An early 8-0 round staked the Mount to a 8-2 lead at the 14:37 mark of the first half.

A 6-0 Marist run, which included two free throws by Isaiah Brickner and baskets by Kam Farris and Trace Salton, gave the Red Foxes the lead back at 13-10 at the 10:48 mark.

A follow by Stephane Ingo gave Marist its largest lead of the first half. The Red Foxes led 22-15 at the 5:07 mark.

Mount St. Mary’s closed the first half on a 13-1 run. Dakota Leffew’s buzzer-beating layup gave the Mount a 28-23 after 20 minutes.

Farris’ three-pointer tied the score at 38 at the 13:25 mark, and another three with 11:59 to play put the Red Foxes ahead for good.

A 15-4 run extended Marist’s lead to a game high of 12 with 2:21 remaining. Patrick Gardner scored six points in this spurt.

Mount St. Mary’s never got closer than six points in the final six minutes.
