BUFFALO – The Marist men’s basketball team earned a 76-58 win at Canisius in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Friday night at the Koessler Athletic Center.
Marist hit its first four shots from the field. This included a pair of three-pointers by Javon
Cooley as the Red Foxes led 11-6 at the 17:17 mark.
The lead changed four times in the first half.
A three-pointer by Noah Harris gave Marist its largest lead of the first half, a 33-24 advantage at the 4:40 mark.
Canisius scored the final five points of the first half, and Marist’s lead was cut to 38-37 after 20 minutes.
An 8-0 run early in the second half gave the Golden Griffins a five-point lead, their largest of the game. However, Marist countered with a 7-0 run to grab the lead back.
With 12:51 remaining, a jumper by Patrick Gardner gave Marist the lead for good.
Gardner’s three-pointer with 7:44 remaining punctuated a 10-0 Marist run. The Golden
Griffins were held scoreless for a span of 3:46.
Marist’s lead reached as high as 20 twice.
