A Closer Look at the Life of Jacky Clark Chisholm

Jacky Clark Chisholm is the first-born daughter of the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, legendary innovator of the modern gospel choir. Jacky and her younger sisters make up the award-winning gospel-singing group, The Clark Sisters, changing many lives by their classic inspirational performances, including “You Brought the Sunshine” and “Is My Living In Vain?”

Jacky is a three-time Grammy winner, NAACP Image Award winner, Stellar Award winner and Dove Award winner. She earned a nursing degree while keeping up a busy schedule with the Clark Sisters. Professionally, she has been an instructor for the American Red Cross and also has a bachelors degree in Family Life Education.

Following up on her degree in nursing, Jacky hosted her own radio show called “The Wellness Touch” in 2003. She would interview healthcare professionals and they would answer questions from listeners that called in.

Her 2005 CD “Expectancy”, was her first solo recording project. Her second solo project is in the works and is highly anticipated. Her single “Cover Me” is being used to promote St. Jude Research Hospital to fight childhood cancer.

As a performer, she had starring roles in six gospel stage plays that toured nationwide including “Mama Don’t”, the 1990 Mike Matthews play that started a whole new genre of Gospel musical stage plays. In 2014 she produced her own play again with playwrite Mike Matthews called “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg”. In 2015 she appeared with Vivica A. Fox in Mike Matthews’ production “Danger At My Door”. Others she has performed with are Morris Day of the Time, Trina Braxton, Carl Payne and LaVan Davis. She has also been seen in a New York Life Insurance television commercial and heard in radio commercials and announcements.

Jacky’s book “Inspirational Praise” has been well received. It is 30 days of reflections observed by Jacky based on her personal experiences on a variety of issues. It is formatted as a journal, which allows the reader to write their own thoughts and prayers related to their own experiences. The journal is accompanied by a cd of meditation music. Her second book, “Polished Image: Making the Most of Your Public Persona”, is designed to help aspiring artists and young professionals develop skills for self-image, stage presence and off-stage or personal behavior.

Jacky has always been a person with a desire to give back. As a wound-care specialist, Jacky considers herself a “facilitator of healing”. “God is the true healer”, she declares. But her lifetime of experience has given her a keen sensibility for the need for healing in many circumstances in life. She sees healing as a ministry. She helps people identify their hurts.

Then she inspires them to see past their hurts. Then she shows them how to be empowered to overcome their hurts and reach for the “Polished Image” God has purposed for them. Her seminars leave a life-changing mark on attendees.

Healing, inspiring, and empowering are essential parts of who Jacky is. Those three things are the foundation of everything she’s about. In her music, her speaking, her writing, they are all evident. It is the gift given to her that she shares in anyway she can.

Jacky is a licensed evangelist and serves faithfully at Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the Director of the Youth Choir for the Church of God in Christ National Music Department for over ten years. She has ministered the Word of God as far away as Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2016 she went with a ministry team to speak at a women’s conference in the Dominican Republic. On November 9th, 2018 Jacky was elevated to the, Supervisor of Women for the 2nd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Dominican Republic Church of God in Christ Inc.

Company in partnership with Nashville-based United Alliance Music released Mrs. Clark’s latest solo single “Feel Good” featuring the Grammy Award winning legendary Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J Blige. The Billboard chart topping release launched Jacky Clark Chisholm’s record label LENITA, Inc. “Feel Good” was was produced by Grammy Award winning producer Dominicke A Polk featuring a bonus track with multi-talented rapper Tia P. who co-wrote the single with Tommy & J’Mel Johnson (TommyJay), Dante Bowden, David Bowden, and John Murray.

Lifetime Television premiered the highly anticipated The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel on Saturday, April 11th at 8pm ET/PT, which was executive produced by Mary J. Bilge, Queen Latifa, and Missy Elliott and tells the story of the highs and lows of Jacky Clark-Chisholm and her sisters who are known as the top-selling female gospel group of Aaron (Dawn), Michael, and Angel are products of Jacky’s amazing 46 year marriage to the late Glynn Chisholm who transitioned in November 2019. Three beautiful granddaughters Mattie, Bailey and Taylor have brought great joy to the family.
