Vassar Brewers Compete at Pioneer Invitational

UTICA – The Vassar College Track and Field teams returned to action for the second straight week at Utica for the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday. The women’s squad finished seventh overall with 35 points while the men’s team was eighth overall with 25 points.

In the women’s 60-meter dash, junior Ava Novak qualified for the finals with a time of 8.33 and then finished seventh overall with a time of 8.38. Senior Lola Perez-Fry finished in the top 10 in 8.39. Junior Rey Claro was the top finisher in the men’s race with a time of 7.84.

Freshman Kalista Ringler was the top finisher in the women’s 200-meter dash with an 11th place finish in 28.32 while classmate Jamie Eu was 16th with a time of 28.68.

Freshman Margaret McLaughlin recorded a time of 1:05.41 in the women’s 400-meter dash for a 12th place finish followed by classmate Freja Niklasson in 1:08.24. In the women’s 600-meter run, sophomore Jordan Norman finished in 11th in 1:51.14 while junior Tim Jacques earned the victory in the men’s race with a time of 1:24.72 and senior Lukas Muzila finished in the top 10 with a time of 1:28.56.

Junior Clara Wiesler finished 12th overall in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.00 as freshman Anika Mueller-Hickler finished seventh in the women’s 1 mile run in 5:36.11. In the men’s 1 mile race, freshmen Arlo Rucker and Kai Chang finished back to back in 13th and 14th place, respectively, with times of 4:38.66 and 4:38.86.

In the 3000-meter run, senior Augusta Stockman recorded a third place finish in 10:32.13 and posted another AARTFC mark. Sophomore Jason Cirrito was the top finisher in the men’s race with a 19th overall finish in 9:19.38. Junior Nora Jenson was fourth overall in the women’s 60-meter hurdes with a time of 10.26.

The quartet of Mueller-Hickler, Wiesler, Norman and sophomore Sophie Farr recorded a fourth place finish in the women’s distance medley relay in 14:06.15 while the group of Rucker, Jacques, Muzila and freshman Davis Anderson finished third in the men’s relay in 11:08.83.

In the field events, sophomore Jeremy Frank tied for a first place finish with Lock Haven’s Kevin Taylor at 4:10m in the pole vault. Perez-Fry took home second place in the women’s long jump with an AARTFC mark of 5.28m followed by freshman Sydney Passley-Harris’ fifth place finish at 5:06m and Novak’s 5:04m mark for sixth place.

In the women’s shot put, sophomore Soleil Young had a top mark of 8.88m while freshman Lila Miller had a mark of 8.63m. In the men’s shot put, freshman Justin White finished 13th with a mark of 11.48m while Frank added a 10.72m mark.

Bloomsburg earned the team victory on the women’s side with 181 points while the host Utica was victorious on the men’s side with 139 points.
