Mount Softball Suffers Losses To Marywood, #18 Rowan

CLERMONT, FL. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team played its final two games in Florida on Friday, falling to Marywood 3-0 and #18 Rowan 8-1. Bridget Morris fanned eight batters in the opener with Riley Norwood driving in the team’s lone run of the day against the Owls.

Marywood 3 – Mount Saint Mary 0
Mount Saint Mary was limited to four singles in the game, but loaded the bases in the first inning and put another runner in scoring position in the second.

All the scoring took place in the top of the fifth inning when the Pacers pushed across all three of their runs.

Mara Hamm doubled with one out in the inning to drive in Brooke McKay with the game’s first run.

Tori Para later drove in the final two runs of the contest with a two-out single.

After threatening in the first two frames, Mount Saint Mary would not advance a runner to scoring position again until the seventh.

Marywood finished the game with an 8-4 advantage in hits with each team committing one error in the contest.

For The Knights
Laura Dentato, Samantha Bendig, Sophia Reed and Sofia Gannon all singled for the Knights.

Olivia Ferara drew two walks.

Morris took the tough luck loss after working 6.0 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits. Morris did not walk a batter and struck out eight.

Dana Donnelly worked a scoreless inning of relief.

Rowan 8 – Mount Saint Mary 1
Rowan, who has won 14 straight games since dropping the season opener, jumped out front early after scoring once in the first and five more times in the second.

Liz McCaffery drove in the first run with a groundout and added a run scoring single in the second.

Devyn DiPasquale and Payton MacNair each sparked the big second inning with two-run base hits.

Mount Saint Mary got on the board in the top of the fourth following a leadoff double from Bendig.

Bendig advanced to third on a Reed base hit and later scored on an infield single off the bat of Norwood.

Rowan answered with the final two runs of the game in the bottom of the inning.

Abigail Pawlowski drove in the last two runs for the Owls with a two-run single.

For The Knights
Bendig doubled and scored the team’s only run in the game.

Reed, Gannon and Norwood all singled with Norwood also drawing a walk and driving in the team’s lone run.

Grace McDonald fell to 2-3 in the circle after allowing eight runs on 11 hits in 3.2 innings.

Rory Littman worked the final 2.1 innings and held Rowan off the board, allowing just two hits.
