ITHACA – The top-seeded Vassar College Women’s Tennis team fell in the Liberty League Championship on Sunday morning as second-seeded Skidmore defeated the Brewers 5-2 to clinch the Liberty League Championship title. The Brewers finish the season at 12-6 overall and were 7-1 in conference matches.
Ella Provost and Grace Truong started doubles action with a 8-5 win at two over freshman Iris Li and sophomore Macey Dowd. Konika Dhull and Beilynn Geiss triumphed over senior Tatum Blalock and sophomore Elyse Duley 8-3 at three while the Brewers picked up a win at one when junior Sofie Shen and freshman Erin McCusker tallied an 8-6 victory against Maya Lal and Chanhtel Thongphok.
Dhull scored the first singles win at four for the Thoroughbreds as she defeated Shen 6-1, 6-0 followed by Provost winning 7-6 (7-5). 6-1 at five over Li. Freshman Ananya Krishnan earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at six over Geiss before Lal clinched the title with a 6-3, 6-1 over Dowd at one.
