Marist Baseball Falls In Rubber Match

NIAGARA FALLS – The Marist baseball team fell in the rubber match to Niagara, Sunday afternoon. A six run fourth inning for Niagara pushed the Purple Eagles past the Red Foxes 13-7.

The Red Foxes took an early 1-0 over the Purple Eagles after Bayram Hot tripled and later scored on a fielding error. In the bottom of the first, Jack Keenan pitched a scoreless inning for the Red Foxes.

In the second inning, Ethan Conrad and Marco Ali singled which put runners in scoring position for the Red Foxes. Conrad later scored on a sacrifice groundout by Colin Mackle and extended the Red Foxes lead to 2-0. Jack Keenan, in the bottom of the second, pitched another scoreless frame.

The Red Foxes continued scoring in the third inning with RBI singles from Justin Kapuscinski and Marco Ali. The Red Foxes extended the lead to 4-0 after the top-half of the third inning. In the bottom-half of the inning, Niagara tied the game at 4-4.

The Red Foxes came back in the fourth inning with three runs and regained the lead 7-4.

Brian Hart ripped an RBI single, and Justin Kapuscinski hit his fourth home run of the season to deep center field. In the bottom of the fourth, Niagara took the lead on a six-run inning 10-7.

Niagara extended its lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with three runs, making the Red Foxes deficit 13-7.

The Red Foxes fell 13-7 to Niagara.
