Rzek Receives Marist Greystone Technology Award

KINGSTON – Kingston City School District (KCDS) congratulates Grade 11 student Maya Rzek, who received the prestigious Marist College Greystone Technology Award recognizing her outstanding performance in computer science!

This award comes with a $5,000 merit scholarship should the recipient decide to attend Marist College and major in one of the disciplines offered by the School of Computer Science and Mathematics.

Maya is currently in Karen Garner’s computer science class, where she is excelling as a first-year student. She has been passionate about computer science for as long as she can remember and believes that Garner’s class has taken her skills to new heights, enabling her to “picture” coding in innovative ways.

Outside of her studies, Maya is actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including peer tutoring and the KHS Gardening Club. Over the summer, she plans to volunteer and hopes to focus on projects that use technology to support nature initiatives. Her goal is to enhance her résumé and have her choice of top computer science programs after graduating next year.

KCSD officials look forward to following Maya’s future contributions to a growing field.
