NEWBURGH – Empire program scholars have been learning how to play the steel drum/pan this summer at South Middle School (SMS). The students practice a wide range of songs each day from Somewhere Over the Rainbow to Don’t Worry Be Happy. The steel drums can be heard while walking through the main hallway at SMS as the students practice adding Caribbean vibes to some classic songs.
